Product Designer (Malaysia)

About the Role
As a Product Designer, you will help define our products and features from start to end, improving the user experience and driving business outcomes like customer acquisition and retention. You will be working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional pod working with product managers and engineers to ensure that we build the right products, and also build our products right.
You’ll have the opportunity to own smaller features end to end, and contribute to larger or more complex initiatives. You’ll be expected to
- Lead discovery with customers and identity customer pain points or validate solutions
- Understand complex systems / requirements / logic / edge cases and map flows across multiple states
- Produce polished production ready UI in Figma with component consistency based on internal design systems
- Support launches for projects from other people / teams
- And all these efforts could span across all the markets and product lines we serve
You might be aspiring to eventually become a senior product designer, who can represent your problem area and product line as a thought leader, and the breadth and depth of exposure to new problem areas, and work in this stint would put you in a good position to do so.
With your success, over the next few years you will have taken StaffAny from a workforce management tool to our envisioned operating system for hourly work.
As a Product Designer, you are / have
- You have 1–3 years of product design experience
- Strong english communication skills (both written and spoken)
- A passion for design and usability
- Experience collaborating with product managers and engineers to ship projects
- Your portfolio should include at least one example of a shipped, complex web app / app (not just landing pages or conceptual redesigns)
- Highly independent and pragmatic, and have a strong bias for action
- Embrace a growth mindset
- Bonus if you have background in SaaS or HRIS products
- Bonus if you have built / maintained a design system before
- Bonus if you are based in KL and willing to travel to customers to meet them
- Bonus if you’re from a technical background
- Bonus if you speak chinese can can help with user interviews or copy translation in the app
- Bonus if you have incorporated AI prototyping tools into your workflow before
You will find yourself
- Anchoring design projects end to end, ranging from research, conceptual design, prototypes, validation of usability and feasibility to creating production ready designs and implementation
- Articulating design decisions, leveraging experience, research, and data to build consensus and move the product process forward, and incorporating feedback into the design lifecycle
- Creating durable, reusable components and patterns to accelerate the design process and create consistent, coherent experiences for users.
- Working alongside engineers and other designers to ensure design quality in implementation and process improvements
- Supporting design initiatives by sharing your process and knowledge and bringing our processes inside the team to the next level
